I recently photographed a surprise proposal at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, one of my favorite proposal spots in Miami. Here's a look at how I cover a hidden proposal from start to finish as a Miami proposal photographer.
The Proposal
To make sure she never suspected a thing, Alejandro and I had a long conversation and proposal consultation. I made several suggestions about where and how I can hide. Alejandro, knowing his partner best, agreed that it was best for me to hide in plain sight. So, I posted up 15 minutes early by the Vizcaya gazebo and pretended to take photos of the scenery.
She Said Yes!
The best part of any hidden proposal shoot is catching the raw reaction. Some photographers prefer to stay far away to capture things editorial style. Since my style is more cinematic, I prefer to stay close to capture facial expressions and the moment the ring goes on.
The ENgagement Shoot
A surprise proposal photoshoot at Vizcaya Gardens is the perfect excuse to book an engagement shoot right after. Alejandro and Maite wanted photos inside the gazebo before going out to the Vizcaya Gardens.
Exploring the Gardens
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens gives me so much to work with as a Miami proposal photographer. Even though the the mansion was under construction that day, we made the most of the beautiful outdoor gardens at Vizcaya.
The Ring
Of course, no proposal shoot is complete without a close-up shot of the ring.
